Reviews
Kandaya is a luxurious tropical paradise! The resort grounds are stunning with pristine beaches and beautifully designed villas. The food is incredible - expertly prepared meals with fresh, local ingredients. The staff provides world-class service, making you feel like a VIP. There are so many amenities and activities to enjoy. I had an amazing, relaxing stay at Kandaya. It exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be coming back! 5 stars
This is a beautiful resort in a nice location, albeit a little far away from the nearest city.
We arrived by car and found the check-in to be very unwelcoming. So the first impression was not good. Most of the employees were very nice and helpful though.
Overall, I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. This is a very pretty resort and with the proper management and some improvements with the service, it would meet international standards. Right now, it doesn’t. Especially when you consider the very high price tag.
Room availed: Adler Family Villa. Decent sized villa with 3 rooms, 1 shared toilet and bath and 1 en-suite at Master bedroom. Inverter at all areas of the villa excluding t&b. Spacious kitchenette, enough for food prep, no cooking allowed. Mini fridge is well stocked with beverages and mini treats like snickers. Prices are provided in a slip of paper on top of the fridge. Very clean but please provide batjroom mats to avoid wet puddles of water after coming out from the toilet. Bath towels are abundant, bath robes are sanitary and fabric has a pleasant smell. Clean and tidy upon check-in. Time of check-in was two hours before 2pm so by 12, know that the room is already prepped and read to move-in.
Services: Customer service from the staff is impressive.
Ammenities: Salon and Spa is unavailable for walk-in, unless booked from your room service landline. Tennis court, equipment is freely provided at the Lifestyle area, Gameroom has outdated arcade and air hockey table. Table tennis and billard table and equipment is still decent. Street fighter arcade is out of service. Gym is well maintained. Locker areas are provided for both men and women. Horse stable and farm is not reachable by golf cart, so you have to walk to the parking lot at the entrance to get to the stables. Price is decent once availed the package deal for Lifestyle activities. ATV area is far from other services, decent equipment. Boat area services, sometimes Kayak boating is unfavorable when the tides are low so even you are inclusive to kayak boating, but your time of stay is at low tide, you are unable to use it. Pool has no strong stench of chlorine, due to the open area away from the building, with no trees or structure casting shadow on the pool, it gets hot from early morning till afternoon. Poolside orders are very well welcome.
Food: Many choices, price is not proportionate to the serving size (large price, small amounts, mid taste) not worth it but no choice for where you can get your food, its the only resto in the entire resort. Breaskfast buffet is small, not much choices, Filipino style breakfast, pancakes, cereal (1 type only), cold cuts (2 types of cheese only, 2 meats, and salad bar), noodles, congee, soup, and bread. Beverages are only coffee, iced tea, pineapple juice, and milk coming from the cereal section.
Overll: Some items can be overpriced, streetfood such as hotdog, tempura, kwek-kwek (fried quail eggs), and fish balls are priced above 50 pesos. Plating is on paper plates. Drinks, I was only disappointed with the watermelon shake since they did not remove the seeds, considering the price, not worth it.
They have the best pillows. I love the smell of the pillow case, the bedsheets, etc. The housekeeping staff were very effective in cleaning our room after it got dirtied with our post swimming activities. They even change our towels promptly. Great place for short and long stay.
The place is so relaxing! The staff are Great, The Ambience is relaxing,The Beach is great, And the rooms are clean. But my only problem was it was in the “Point of Cebu” so it was a reallly long drive (4 hours)….. but got to say it was worth it! There is now a place to buy stuff also (2 decades ago there wasnt) And there is a Air Purifier and a Dehumidifier just in case and The horse is wierd
Sorry…
Need to update;
After spending the night, I realized how inconvenient and unsafe the place is. Because of poor lighting outside, I tripped and missed a step, resulting in hurting my back.
The layout of the property can be confusing. Don’t go out at night.
We were playing a game in the reception area of our building. When it started raining, we had to leave because they designed it so the rain would come in the middle into the inside decoration pool.
Maintenance issues like the shower not working should be a priority concern for a high end resort.
The staff, they really try hard to please. They probably need better management though.

I first posted;
I would probably give 5 stars if the restaurant is better.
Our room is humongous! But we would prefer a smaller room with a more cozy feeling. The tv is so far away from our bed, we can’t really see it.
The romantic flowers on the bed is a nice touch, but a pain to clean up.
Jet skiing was a lot of fun. They didn’t really have restrictions on how far we could go. Next time though, we will bring goggles to keep the salt water out of our eyes. They don’t provide.
We only stay one night but it has been a pleasant experience.
The staff is great. Very accommodating.
We had a salad, crispy pata, seafood medley, and bread with oil and vinegar for dipping which was very good, but they acted like nobody ever asked for oil and vinegar before 🤣. Oh, and it was extra charge for bread.
Food was ok… nothing to brag about. And took a long time to get.
If you come here, order your food ahead of time.
So I recently celebrated my birthday in Kandaya. Firstly, I want to give a HUGE KUDOS to the staff. They were extremely accommodating! They certainly made the trip special and they’re probably the highlight of why I enjoyed my stay. From the customer service in Viber—Analyn, the reception staff, the guys who worked on my magnificent dinner set-up, I could definitely see the effort they put into it to make it so aesthetically pleasing and beautiful, they were careful with each decoration. To our server for that night, to the waiter at breakfast who even offered to take out picture, to our jet ski instructor and to all other lovely staff who helped us! Sadly, I wasn’t able to get all their names.
Aside from the staff, the place has been mesmerizing, loved the multiple facilities too! Although, I was a bit disappointed at the beach because it was more green than blue when we came. Also saw a review here saying, for the price of their rooms, they can do more with the small details. Unfortunately, I agree, there were some areas that need maintaining and can be improved. When we checked into our rooms as well, the cleaning detergent in the air was still prominent that I slightly chocked on it. It had a strong acidic smell. I am happy to know though that they prioritized the hygiene of the place. We were also not very impressed with the food, it could be better. They had a variety of cuisines which is great! But the quality can be worked on.
Despite these, I did love their shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, body wash, lotion, etc. Best ones I’ve tried from a resort! The quality of them and the smell! It was so delightful! Like I said, best ones I have ever tried and I’ve been to a lot of opulent resorts. I was also super happy to arrive in my room and see a happy birthday greeting.
Overall, we had a blast in the resort and I’d like to thank everyone in Kandaya for making my birthday special. The staff deserves bonuses!
Room was nice. Very courteous hotel staff. Quick checkin and checkout. Bonus was the breakfast buffet instead of the plated breakfast option that was included in the booking. Will definitely be back.
